About the prefecture: Located adjacent to the northern side of Tokyo, the physical
make up of Saitama Prefecture consists of green plains and rolling hills. Home to over six million people, Saitama is the fastest growing prefecture. Connected by two bullet trains, the Tohoku and Jo-etsu train, Saitama is one of the key transportation hubs in eastern Japan.

The area comprising Urawa and Omiya is being developed into a new Saitama industrial/cultural zone, which will be the centre of prefectural activities in the 21st century.

Interest in football is extremely high all throughout the prefecture and especially in Urawa, home of the J. League Red Diamonds.
