Taegu (Daegu)

Daegu in the southeast of the Korean Peninsula is a city of rich tradition, having inherited the magnificent cultural relics of the Ancient Shilla and Kaya Dynasties. Daegu is also a major industrial city, especially in fibers and textiles, and its Milano Project was launched this year to develop the city into Asia's premier home to the fashion industry.

Daegu and the surrounding area are home to 27 universities which produce over 40,000 high-quality graduates each year. Nearby industrial complexes for electronics and steel, machinery, chemicals contribute to a city with unlimited development potential.

Nearby at Mt. Palgong is the Great Buddha Figure of Reunification and the seated stone Buddha image which legend says can make at least one wish come true. Within one-hour of Daegu, are Bulguksa Temple and Seokgulam Buddhist Grotto, which have been designated as world cultural heritage sites. Also nearby are the world-famous 80,000 printing boards of Buddhist Sutra preserved in Haeinsa Temple.
