Suwôn (Suwon)

Since ancient times, Suwon in Gyeonggi province has been a city famous for its beautiful scenery and abundant streams and mountains, with the clear water of the Suwon stream flowing under graceful Mt. Gwanggyo.

Suwon today is also home to many government organizations and state-of-the-art industrial facilities including the plants of Samsung Electronics and SKC, and a number of research institutes.

At the dawn of the 21st century, Suwon is rapidly becoming an international city. In addition to its new football stadium, major projects include the construction of the Suwon Convention Center, the creation of the Image Theme Park, the opening of the World's Miniature Castle Park based on the theme of castles around the world, and the establishment of the Hwaseong Observation Tower to commemorate the hosting of the 2002 World Cup.
