Kakegawa/Fukuroi, Shizuoka-ken

About the prefecture: Home to the symbol of Japan, Mt. Fuji, Shizuoka Prefecture borders the Pacific near the centre of the main island of Honshu. The prefecture is linked directly to Tokyo by expressway and by the Tokaido Shinkansen (bullet train).

Shizuoka's favourable topography and warm climate contribute to the region's excellent harvests of tea, mandarin oranges and many other products. Shizuoka's other important industries include the manufacturing of automobiles, musical instruments, paper production
and fishing.

Many tourist attractions find their home in Shizuoka. Areas of note include the Izu Peninsula
with its spa towns and Lake Hamanako.

Shizuoka is known to its fans as "the football capital" due to the sport's popularity. The prefecture has over 1,400 active teams with a total of more than 50,000 players and is home to two J. League teams-Shimizu S-Pulse and Jubilo Iwata. Shimizu S-Pulse, based in Shimizu City, is the only J.League team that is not privately sponsored.
