FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Why does stadium X not figure in the tables?

In the stadium tables per country/association and the tables of stadiums with a +30.000 capacity per confederation are included only stadiums that are used for football matches at present at the national competition levels (leagues/divisions) mentioned in the header of the page present. Generally are included the stadiums used for matches of professional league football (p. ex. 4 levels in England and Italy, 3 levels in Germany, France and Spain, 2 levels in Greece, Netherlands, Portugal etc.). When a team is relegated from the covered levels its stadium stays in the table – when a team is promoted to the covered levels its stadium is added.

Note: Stadiums which are not used regularly are signed with a footnote. Stadiums which used to welcome football matches, but don’t do anymore, figure at the end of the page in an additional table. There is also an additional table for stadiums which are under work or planned to be built or renovated.

Can I find stadiums which are not used for football on this site?

Stadiums of a +60.000 capacity which are not used for football but only for other sports are included in the “Specials” section (+60.000 Non-Football stadiums list and +60.000 General stadiums list).

Why aren’t the city and stadium names stated in English language?

All city, stadium and club names are used where possible in their local language. In countries where characters are used which differ from the latin characters (p. ex. China, Russia, Greece etc.) the best judged transliteration system (to English standards) is used. In case a city name is completely different in local language from common English, French or German corresponding name (p. ex. Krung Thep = Bangkok in Thai) the English name is stated in brackets.

Where can I find explanations or a legend concerning the tables?

Just above the tables in the header of the page you can click on “Description of table” where you can find detailed explanations concerning the data you find in the tables.
